Paper Pirates Wiki

Each round, there is a chance an event can occur. Events range from small inconveniences, to things that can completely change the course of gameplay. If there are players in the audience, they have the opportunity to vote on a choice of which event is chosen at the end of the next round. If a player goes overboard during any event, the next round of voting is skipped.

An event can never occur on Day 1, even if the maximum number of events is set in a custom game.

Sailing Events

Sailing Events can occur after a job ended in a success, when all pirates play in the same job command. These events usually help the Ghosts, as they involve either, creating a new ghost, potentially throwing a human, or swapping the ranks.

Treasure Events

Treasure Events can occur after a job ended in a failure, when at least one of the jobs a pirate plays in doesn't match the other commands played.

Found Stowaway The stowaway is found, and the captain and the second-in-command can vote on whether to throw them overboard or not, moving one space closer to home if they do. Ghosts at Work A random pirate is selected to choose a job icon. The number of ghosts with that job icon is revealed to the crew, but the chosen job icon is not shared publicly. The captain is excluded from the pirates with the job icon. No Tick.png Tick.png Tick.png

Wildcard Events

Scurvy! The crew are feeling under the weather and pass fruit around to fend off sickness. Each pirate in turn chooses a crew member to save, with the pirate who does not receive fruit going overboard. If the pirate thrown overboard is a human, a ghost will haunt a random crewmember. Crew Duties

If the Crew Duties event is chosen as a Wildcard Event, a random rank currently aboard the ship is chosen, and a specific event that involves that pirate is chosen. Possible crew duties are:

Overpower Stowaway The stowaway overpowers one of the crew, and throws them overboard. Yes

Adventure Events

When an Adventure Event occurs during your journey, the crew temporarily takes a pitstop, engaging in a mini-adventure. During an adventure, the crew have the chance to pick and choose which events take place, and multiple events will happen in quick succession. The things that happen on an adventure don’t just stay on the adventure, they’re going to affect your game when you’re back on the ship too!

Cleansing Waters The crew sacrifice one treasure to vote for a pirate to immediate join the human team, regardless of whether they were originally a human or a ghost. If the crew are unable to make an offering, the precise number of ghosts currently on board is revealed to all pirates instead. Island0.png
Crossing the Gap Each pirate in turn, from Stowaway to Captain, is presented with a choice of vines on their device. They must choose a vine, which will either allow them to cross the gap safely, or break, ending the event. If the pirate whose vine breaks is a human, another crewmember will become a ghost. Diving for Treasure The crew must salvage a shipwreck to earn treasure. Each pirate contributes to the salvage by pressing a button on their device at the appropriate time, that is, when the main screen indicates it is their turn to press. Pressing their button at the wrong time briefly locks a pirate's button. If the crew fail to complete the salvage before the timer expires, one of the crew will become a ghost. Island7.png
Escape the Cave Each pirate races to escape the cave by tapping alternating buttons on their device. The pirate who presses the fewest buttons is thrown overboard. Even if they were human, no ghosts are created. Island1.png
Fishing for Treasure The crew take turns to fish, or stop fishing. When fishing, a pirate may either catch a fish, or a squid. Catching a fish increases the chance of earning a treasure at the end of the event. Catching a squid turns one of the pirates still fishing into a ghost and forfeits the opportunity to earn treasure. Fishing continues until all pirates have stopped fishing, or a squid is caught. Island2.png
Magic of the Mystic The Captain chooses any three pirates, including themselves, to discover how many of the pirates chosen are currently a ghost. Island8.png
Race to the Top Each pirate races to the top of the mountain, by tapping randomly placed buttons on their device. The pirate who presses the most buttons becomes empowered. The next time they participate in voting, the pirate they vote for will immediately be thrown overboard. Island3.png
The Spiritual Scales The crew divide themselves into two groups, and the group with the most ghosts is revealed to all pirates. Island4.png
X Marks the Spot Each pirate in turn, from Stowaway to Captain, must choose where to dig for buried treasure. Upon digging, they will either find a treasure and end the event, or, be offered information on how close their chosen space was to the treasure. Island6.png

Seasonal Events can occur during specific dates throughout the year, depending on the season.

Lucky Egg Hunt A random crew member gets given a basket of magic eggs! The rest of the crew are given a clue to what is inside and they must coordinate to pick one. Spring Sailing 15th March - 12th April
Trick or Treat? One pirate is offered a choice, trick or treat? Depending on their choice, one of 9 different events takes place. Haunted Seas 1st October - 31st October
Honour the Spirits A random pirate discovers how many ghosts have been successfully voted overboard. Dia de Muertos 1st November - 7th November
Wish on a Wishbone Two pirates have the opportunity to pull on the wishbone and wish for a particular event to take place. Festive Feast 16th November - 30th November
Naughty or Nice? A pirate may gift another pirate a present - with either a nice surprise if they've been good, or a mean surprise if they've been naughty. Yule Tides 1st December - 31st December
Snowball Fight The crew throw a snowball at the pirate they would like to see go overboard.
